5 Ways to Keep Your White Phone Case from Turning Yellow
The Battle Against Yellowing
There is nothing quite as sleek as a brand-new white or clear phone case. However, keeping it pristine is a constant battle against the elements. Here is how to prevent and treat the dreaded yellowing.
1. Keep It Out of Direct Sunlight
Ultraviolet (UV) radiation is the primary culprit behind TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) yellowing. UV rays break down the chemical bonds in the polymer, causing an irreversible color change. Avoid leaving your phone on sunny windowsills or car dashboards.

2. Clean With Mild Soap Weekly

The oils and sweat from your hands react with the case material over time. Wash your case once a week with a few drops of mild dish soap and warm water using a soft toothbrush.

3. The Baking Soda Scrub
If slight yellowing has already started, make a paste of baking soda and water. Scrub the case gently, leave it for 10 minutes, and rinse. Baking soda acts as a mild abrasive to remove surface stains.
4. Avoid Harsh Chemicals
Never use bleach or strong solvents. These will destroy the finish of the case and can actually accelerate the degradation of the plastic.
5. Upgrade to Polycarbonate (PC)
If you are tired of the yellowing battle, stop buying TPU silicone cases. Upgrade to a Hard Shell Polycarbonate (PC) case. PC does not undergo the same chemical degradation and will remain clear or brilliantly white forever.
